uWho Canada is pleased to announce distribution of Xtera WAN Load Balancing Solutions

Xtera’s AscenLink increases internet and intranet bandwidth capacity, and offers significant cost savings compared to leased lines.
The Demand for More Bandwidth

Business-critical applications are increasingly demanding more bandwidth, yet intranet and intranet connections continue to pose reliability and stability problems. Leased lines are considered to provide high quality of service, yet there is a significant cost increase from internet access to leased lines, and a single point of failure still exists. The deployment of VPN connections is highly complex and can also raise reliability issues.

AscenLink: The intelligent WAN load balancing solutionlink_1

Xtera’s Load Balancing product solution, AscenLink, allows increased internet and intranet bandwidth capacity over inexpensive internet access services such as DSL or cable modems. It can also be utilized as a cost-effective alternative to VPNs, or as a transparent method of enhancing the performance of VPNs many times over.

More available bandwidth with higher reliability

AscenLink is an edge device that sits at the intranet/internet boundary. It can be used in the following ways:

* As a “point-to-network” device improving internet access performance
* As “point-to-point” or “point-to-multipoint” devices that connect diverse enterprise LANs (an intranet)
* Using sophisticated load balancing techniques, AscenLink allows significant increases to internet access bandwidth by aggregating multiple inexpensive access lines into larger virtual pipes. By using patented Tunnel Routing techniques, AscenLink utilizes inexpensive internet access lines to duplicate the bandwidth of much more expensive, high-speed dedicated leased lines between corporate LANs, replacing or enhancing existing VPNs.
* The use of multiple links together with AscenLink supports much higher reliability. The failure of any access line reduces the available bandwidth, but does not stop all connectivity as the failure of a single leased line would.

Vertical markets

AscenLink is used today by a range of organizations and enterprises, including:

* Universities and other educational institutions
* ISPs
* Wireless ISP’s
* Hotels
* Manufacturers and general enterprise users
* Financial institutions
* Media and content hosts
